Four members of the Liberty lacrosse team were named to the Big South Conference Lacrosse All-Conference teams on Thursday evening at the conference's year-end awards banquet on the campus of Davidson. Jen Freymond was tabbed first team all-conference, while Chloe McIntosh, Nina Dunay and Kristen Masullo were each named to the second team for the Lady Flames.

Freymond produced in a big way on both the offensive and defensive ends for Liberty this season. The junior finished the regular season first on the team in ground balls (49) and caused turnovers (29) and second on the squad in draw controls (43). Freymond tallied 23 goals on the year, which was good for third on the team. A one-time Big South Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season, Freymond ranks first in the conference in ground balls per game (2.88), second in caused turnovers per game (1.71) and fifth in draw controls per game (2.53). This marks the second postseason all-conference honor for Freymond, as she was also named to the NLC second team in 2011.

Midfielder Dunay scored 27 goals during the regular season, tying her with Morgan Becker for the team lead. Dunay chipped in with seven assists to finish with 34 points on the year. The junior added 27 ground balls, 32 draw controls and 19 caused turnovers, finishing in the top four on the team in each of those categories.

McIntosh earns second team all-conference recognition after starting every game at defense for Liberty and posting 43 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. The redshirt senior was also named to the Big South All-Academic team, marking the fourth consecutive season that the Dallas, Texas native has earned postseason all-academic team honors.

Goalkeeper Masullo picks up the second postseason all-conference award of her career. In 2011, the junior was tabbed to the NLC first team all-conference squad. Masullo concluded the regular season ranked second in the conference in goals-against average (10.45), save percentage (.467) and saves per game (8.24). The Berkeley Heights, N.J., native is currently ranked in the top 20 in the country in saves (140), saves per game and save percentage.

The Big South's offensive and defensive player of the year awards went to Emily Cooke of Davidson and High Point's Jasmine Jordan, respectively. Shannon Gallagher of Winthrop was honored as the conference's freshman of the year, while Coastal Carolina's Lily Yednock took home the scholar-athlete of the year award. Davidson head coach Kim Wayne was tabbed the head coach of the year after leading the Wildcats to a perfect 7-0 record in league play and the No. 1 seed in the Big South Lacrosse Championship.

The inaugural Big South Lacrosse Championship begins tomorrow at 4 p.m. when the No. 4 seed Lady Flames challenge top seed Davidson at Richardson Stadium. At 7 p.m., No. 2 seed High Point will square off against No. 3 seed Longwood in the second semifinal contest. The winners of each game will advance to Sunday's championship tilt, which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
