Khristina Kanagy lopped more than a minute off of her 10K personal-best time Friday evening, clocking a time of 35:21.97 for 11th place in the race.

Liberty's final athlete to compete on Friday at the Raleigh Relays, senior Khristina Kanagy sliced her 10K personal best to 35:21.97 in the Lady Flames' most impressive performance of the day.

Kanagy, who entered the night with a personal-best effort of 36:33.99, became the fourth Lady Flame ever to crack the 36:00 barrier and the third to do so at Raleigh. She placed 11th out of 42 runners with her ECAC-qualifying effort, one spot ahead of defending Big South 10K champion Letitia Saayman of Coastal Carolina.

Kanagy placed second among conference runners in the race, trailing only Winthrop's Jeanne Stroud, who claimed eighth place with her 35:10.44 effort. In total, four Big South runners posted times of 36:00.70 on a cool, pleasant night for distance running at Paul Derr Track.

Liberty's other big breakthrough performance on the day belonged to freshman Andrew Woodley. He added nearly two feet to his shot put personal-best, placing seventh with an IC4A-qualifying throw of 51-9.25. Woodley is the third Flame to meet the IC4A standard in the men's shot put this season, joining Ryan Smith and Jacob DeValve.

The Flames fared well in the men's long jump, including Aaron Johnson's 22-11 leap for eighth place in section 1. Teammate Tevan McIntire equaled his outdoor personal-best of 21-11.75 to place fourth in section 2.

Patrick Donigan shared fourth place in section 2 of the men's high jump, clearing 6-4.75.

Cody Fridgen went over 15 feet in the pole vault for the first time during the 2013 outdoor campaign. His 15-1 performance was good enough for the 11th spot in section 2.

Jarred Cornfield sped to a season-best time of 3:56.96 in the men's 1,500, coming in eighth in Section 3.

A pair of Lady Flames dipped under 4:50 in the women's 1,500, including Jacy Christiansen and Courtney Russo. Christiansen's personal-best 4:40.64 placed fourth in her heat and 14th out of 130 entrants. Russo recorded a season-best 4:48.09 for fifth place in her race and 36th overall.

Big South indoor women's high jump champion Kristen Willeford sailed over 5-3 on Friday, tying for eighth place in section 2 of the event.

Liberty will wrap up its busy week of competition on Saturday, with athletes set to compete in both the Raleigh Relays and Texas Relays. Lyndi Fielitz and Meredith Mistretta will get the day started in Raleigh with section 2 of the women's 10K at 9:30 a.m. Meanwhile, Jocelyn Williams will be the first Lady Flame out of the gate in Austin, throwing the discus at 11 a.m. Eastern.
