Liberty to Begin Four-Game Homestand on Saturday

The Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse team opens its final homestand of the season this weekend, beginning with its inaugural Big South Conference game on Saturday against the Davidson Wildcats at 3 p.m. The homestand continues on Monday versus the Campbell Camels at 3 p.m. at Liberty Lacrosse Field.

A Look at Liberty
The Lady Flames enter the weekend with a 4-5 overall record, after dropping their last three contests. Last week, Liberty traveled to George Mason and fell to the Patriots 14-9. Jen Freymond and Morgan Becker scored three goals each to lead the Lady Flames.

Offensively, Liberty has three players who have recorded 20 or more points so far this season. Sam Struss leads the team with 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists), while freshman Kallie Britton is second with 21 tallies (12 goals, 9 assists). Becker paces the Lady Flames with 16 goals and has chipped in four assists for 20 points. Nina Dunay is close behind Becker with 14 goals, while Freymond is third on the squad with 13 goals. As a team, the Lady Flames have outscored their opponents, 93-84.

In addition to her 13 goals, Freymond has been a force on defense as well. The Lakefield, Ontario native tops Liberty with 30 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. Freymond also leads the team with 29 draw controls. Overall, the Lady Flames are second in the Big South in both ground balls/game (19.33) and caused turnovers/game (8.89) and are third in draw controls/game (12.11)

In goal, Kristen Masullo has a 9.41 goals-against average and ranks No. 6 nationally with a save percentage of .507. The junior has made 74 saves, while surrendering 72 goals.

A Look at Davidson
Davidson holds an identical overall record to Liberty at 4-5 (1-0 Big South). The Wildcats will be looking for their first road win of the season on Saturday, after dropping earlier games at Oregon and Villanova. Davidson is coming off a 17-13 win at home on Tuesday against Lafayette.

Emily Cooke is the Wildcats' leading scorer this season with 40 points, ranking first on the team in assists (23) and second in goals (17). After notching five goals against Lafayette, Ann Fucigna upped her team-leading goal total to 26. Fucigna ranks fourth in the Big South with 2.89 goals/game.

Paige Logan paces the Wildcats with 25 ground balls and is second in draw controls with 20. Emma Sissman has a team-high 41 draw controls, while Abigail Doelger tops the team with nine caused turnovers.

Jessica Melby has a 9.46 goals-against average in between for the pipes for Davidson. She has allowed 80 goals and recorded 64 saves for a save percentage of .444.

A Look at Campbell
Campbell, competing in its first season as a program, has won four consecutive games and owns an overall record of 5-2 (0-1 Big South). The Camels have won each contest of their four-game winning streak on the road and will play at Winthrop tomorrow before coming to Lynchburg on Monday.

Loren Day is Campbell's top offensive player, registering a team-high 23 goals and eight assists on the year. Cloey Henchcliffe is the team leader in both ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (14). Freshman Erica Hitch paces the Camels with 19 draw controls.

Brittany Kincer has played every minute in goal for Campbell, recording a save percentage of .460 and a 10.71 goals-against average. The junior has made 64 saves and given up 75 goals.

Looking Ahead
Liberty continues its four-game homestand on Wednesday, when the Virginia Tech Hokies visit Lynchburg for a 4 p.m. contest. The Lady Flames will play their final home game of the year on Friday versus Presbyterian College at 3 p.m. Before the game, a group of four seniors, Chloe McIntosh, Candice Parsons, Amber Nichols and Jen Freymond, will be honored as part of Senior Day. Fans attending the Virginia Tech game will receive a free rally towel, while those at Friday's contest against the Blue Hose will be given a free t-shirt.
