Gill Adds Robbins to 2013 Signing Class

Following the signing of 21 new recruits to national letters of intent on Wednesday, Liberty head football coach Turner Gill added Dexter Robbins to his 2013 signing class on Thursday.

Robbins is a four-year letterwinning linebacker from Sevier County High School in Sevierville, Tenn. During his junior and senior seasons, Robbins earned All-Sevier County and All-I.M.A.C. first-team honors and he was named the Johnson Pest Control Defensive Player of the Game eight times during both seasons.

As a junior, he recorded 126 tackles (75 solo, 51 assisted), to go along with three sacks, nine tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries, three pass breakups and an interception.

The 6-0, 210-pound linebacker finished his senior season with career numbers, recording 145 tackles (89 solo, 56 assisted), three sacks, 20 tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.

He was named the I.M.A.C. Defensive Player of the Year and Sevier Area Defensive Player of the Year, plus he was named to the Tennessee Sportswriters Association 6A first-team all-state squad.

Robbins is also a first-team all-state track athlete in the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams, helping Sevier County finish fourth in the state championship in both events.

Robbins is a Senior Beta and National Beta Club member and earned Sevier County GPA honors for the last three years.

Robbins is the son of Allen and Jachar Robbins. Robbins' father Allen played four years of football at Cumberland College under former Flames' head football coach Tom Dowling, helping Dowling start the program at Cumberland in 1985.
