With the 2013 lacrosse season opener quickly approaching, the Liberty Lady Flames are busy preparing for their fourth season of competition as a program. Recently, the Flames Sports Network's Nick Pierce had a chance to catch up with head coach Regan Denham and take a look at the upcoming season.
During the interview, Denham discusses the influx of new players into the program, the team's move into the Big South Conference and the schedule, among other topics.
The Lady Flames will look to bounce back from a 3-14 season a year ago, while competing in the National Lacrosse Conference (NLC). Liberty returns four out of its five top goal scorers from a year ago, including tri-captain Amber Nichols. Chloe McIntosh and Jen Freymond also return as captains to anchor the defense and midfield, respectively.
Liberty opens the 2013 season on the road against Stetson on Sunday. Game time against the Hatters is slated for 2 p.m. The Lady Flames will open the home portion of their schedule on Feb. 16 versus defending Patriot League champion Navy.
