As the Flames Sports Network continues to recap the 2012 football season, FSN looks back at the Top 10 moments of the year, continuing today with moment No. 3.
The next moment in the Top 10 series took place as Liberty opened up the second month of the season and gave head coach Turner Gill his first victory at Liberty.
Following three-straight matchups against Top 25 programs and a bye week, Liberty began its quest for a fifth Big South title in the last six seasons by opening up conference play against Gardner-Webb on Oct. 6 at Williams Stadium.
The Bulldogs controlled the pace of play during the first half and took a 21-10 lead into the locker room at halftime. After recovering an on-side kick to open the second half, Gardner-Webb quickly widened its lead to 18 points, 28-10, 63 seconds in the second half.
However, a 30-yard touchdown pass from Josh Woodrum to Pat Kelly three and a half minutes later began a second-half surge that would eventually lead to a Flames' victory. Liberty scored 32 of the game's next 39 points to secure the Flames' 42-35 victory and the first win for Gill at Liberty.
Be sure to check back each weekday during the next week, as the Flames Sports Network and LibertyFlames.com continue to reveal the Top 10 moments of the 2012 football season. The No. 1 moment will be revealed on Dec. 28.
