The fifth-seeded Liberty University Flames (35-19, 13-11 Big South) will square off against the second-seeded Winthrop University Eagles (42-14, 17-7 Big South) in Game 2 of the 2006 Big South Baseball Championship at Charles Watson Stadium in Conway, S.C., on May 24, 2006, at 3 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Game 3 between third-seeded Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers and fourth-seeded High Point Panthers on Thursday, May 25.

The Liberty Flames have garnered the fifth seed for this week's Bojangles' Big South Baseball Championship presented by PUPS/PDPS at Charles Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. It is the first time the Flames have ever been seeded fifth at the Big South Championship.

The High Point Panthers erased an early five-run deficit on their way to a 13-8 win over the Liberty Flames, Sunday afternoon, at Worthington Stadium in the final game of the Big South three-game series and last regular season game for both teams.
Down 6-2 in the fifth inning, Liberty scored five times to take a lead the Flames never relinquished, in defeating the High Point Panthers, 11-9, Saturday afternoon at Worthington Stadium. The victory was the Flames' 36th of the season and ties the Division I school mark for wins with both the 2005 and 2000 Liberty squads.

The Flames finished their second-ever appearance at the NCAA East Regional in 22nd place out of 27 teams as the three-day event concluded today at the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club.
High Point hit three home runs to back the four-hit pitching of sophomore Eammon Portice as the Panthers defeated the Liberty Flames, 11-6, Friday afternoon, at Worthington Stadium in the first game of the Big South series between the two teams.

The Flames shaved seven strokes off their first day total to move up to 20th place at the conclusion of the second day of the NCAA East Regional played at the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club Friday afternoon.
The Liberty University Flames (35-17, 12-9 Big South) host the High Point University Panthers (24-29, 12-9 Big South) in the final Big South series and final three games of the regular season at Worthington Stadium, Friday-Sunday, May 19-21. With both teams clinching spots in next week's Big South Baseball Championship and tied for third place in the conference standings, the three-game series will play a key role in the seeding and first day match-ups for the tournament.
