Eric Brown enters his fifth year as a member of the Liberty athletics communications department and serves as the primary media contact for men’s basketball, women’s soccer and the athletics website, LibertyFlames.com.

Brown’s duties as an assistant athletics communications director include coordinating media requests, issuing press releases and maintaining statistics and records for his respective teams. During the Flames’ incredible run to the NCAA Tournament, Brown facilitated interviews with national media outlets, including, CBS, Fox Sports, ESPN Radio, ESPNU, NBC, The New York Times and The Washington Post. Brown also worked alongside the trio of Marv Albert, Steve Kerr and Craig Sager during the First Four game in Dayton, Ohio, assisting the crew with its game day preparation for the Tru TV broadcast.

In addition to his sports responsibilities, Brown serves as the web manager for LibertyFlames.com, the official website of Liberty Athletics. Brown works to ensure pages are kept updated, while also coordinating with IT on major projects. In 2010, he was responsible for coordinating the website’s redesign.

Prior to joining the Office of Athletics Communications, Brown served as a promotional copywriter for Liberty’s university advancement office, producing content for Liberty Athletics, Ultimate LU club sports, the LaHaye Ice Center, the LaHaye Student Union, and the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre, the university’s year-round synthetic ski park. He also served as the main sports news and feature writer for the university’s magazine, the Liberty Journal, and the university’s official website.

Brown is a 2008 graduate of Liberty University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communication studies with a public relations and advertising emphasis. During his time as an undergraduate, he became familiar with Liberty Athletics while serving as the sports editor of the university’s student newspaper, the Liberty Champion, and completing his internship with athletics communications. As an intern, he was the acting sports information contact for the Liberty men’s and women’s tennis teams.

Brown completed his Master of Business Administration at Liberty in 2010, focusing primarily on the study of international business. He resides in his hometown of Rustburg, Va.
