Meredith Eaker is entering her 12th year as a member of the Liberty University Athletics Department and was promoted to the position of Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator in September 2007.
Eaker, who is the third administrator in the school’s history to serve as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), oversees and manages nine sports programs (softball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, volleyball, women’s lacrosse, women’s swimming and field hockey).
As SWA, Eaker is also responsible for monitoring and enforcing Title IX, as it relates to scholarships, participation figures, personnel and facilities. She oversees the Gender Equity and Minority Issues Athletics Committees, as well as monitors the implementation of plans to maintain the athletics department’s NCAA Division I status.
Eaker is a member of the Big South Conference Board of Directors, serves on the conference’s Strategic Planning Committee, Championships Committee and also sits as chair of the conference’s Women’s Basketball Committee.
Eaker just wrapped up a four-year term representing the Big South Conference as a member of the NCAA Legislative Council, where she spent time reviewing proposals of new NCAA Division I legislation and providing insight and direction regarding legislation to the NCAA Board of Directors.
Prior to 2007, Eaker spent six years overseeing the athletics compliance office, where she was responsible for monitoring and enforcing the NCAA rules and regulations of the University’s then 17 Division I athletics programs.
Eaker graduated from Liberty with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and fitness programming in May 2001 and in 2005, completed her master’s degree in counseling. She graduated from both programs with Magna Cum Laude honors. Additionally, in 2010, Eaker became a graduate of the NACDA Sports Management Institute.
While at Liberty, she was a four-year member of the Lady Flames’ softball team were she served as the team captain her junior and senior years. Eaker was named to the Big South all-conference squad twice, while receiving her highest honors in 2000 when she was named the Big South Player of the Year and the VaSID Co-Player of the Year.
Eaker is married to Liberty University men’s basketball assistant coach Jason Eaker. The couple makes their home in Forest, Va.
