2007-08 (So.): Opened his sophomore season with his first collegiate cross country victory, taking first place at the Virginia Tech Invitational … his time of 18:32 for the course of slightly less than 6,000 meters at Virginia Tech broke the course record … Liberty's No. 4 runner for the remainder of the season … placed sixth at the Big South meet … took 40th place at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship, breaking 32 minutes (31:16.0) for a cross country 10K for the first time … On the Track: Finished fourth in the Big South indoor 5K final … Big South 10K runner-up at the outdoor conference meet … claimed sixth place in the IC4A outdoor 10K, running a then personal-best 30:26.53 … Awards Summary: Two All-Big South honors (cross country – 6th place, outdoor 10K – 2nd place) … Big South Cross Country Athlete of the Week (Sept. 12) … Big South All-Academic Team (cross country) … Big South Presidential Honor Roll.
2006-07 (Fr.): Immediately stamped his place as a top-five runner for the Big South champion Flames … placed 19th in his first collegiate race, the Lou Onesty Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. … finished ninth overall (third among freshmen) at the Big South meet … placed an impressive 42nd at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship … placed sixth at the USATF Junior Cross Country Championships, earning the right to represent the U.S. at the World Junior Cross Country Championships in Kenya … On the Track: Placed second in the 5K and seventh in the 3K at the Big South indoor meet, earning Big South Freshman of the Year honors … his 14:50.15 effort in the Big South indoor 5K final marked the first sub-15 clocking of his career … took fourth place in the Big South 10K outdoors … Awards Summary: Big South Freshman of the Year (indoor track) … two All-Big South honors (cross country – 9th place, indoor 5K – 2nd place) … Big South Presidential Honor Roll.
Prep: Attended Cooperstown Central School … finished second at the New York Class D State Cross Country Championship and 10th at the State Federation Meet as a senior … also went on to place third at the state track meet in the 3,200 … recorded high school personal bests of 4:23 (1,600 meters), 9:13 (3,200 meters) and 15:38 (5,000 meters).
