2011 (R-Jr.): Made his first NCAA national meet appearance, tying for 20th place in the pole vault final at the outdoor championship … won the Big South outdoor pole vault crown, breaking the meet and VMI facility records with his 17-0.75 clearance … IC4A outdoor pole vault runner-up … celebrated his 22nd birthday by tying an 18-year-old school record with a 17-6.5 clearance at the Texas Relays … won five outdoor pole vault titles on the year, including four in a row to begin the season … went over the 17-foot mark outdoors five times … named Big South Men's Field Athlete of the Week on five occasions (March 30, April 7, April 14, May 11, June 3) … redshirted the indoor season, but continued to make progress in the pole vault … won the Hokie Invitational pole vault with a personal-best 17-7.25 clearance, which would have been a Liberty and Big South Conference record had he not been redshirting … the 17-7.25 effort tied him for No. 32 on the U.S. national men's list for 2011 … also went over 17-0.75 to win at the Liberty Open … earned USTFCCCA All-Academic team honors … included on the Big South Presidential Honor Roll.

2010 (Jr.): Won his third consecutive Big South indoor pole vault title, headlining the Flames' 1-2-3-4 sweep of the event … tied for fourth in the vault at the IC4A indoor championship … won the Liberty Quad with a season-best 16-8.75 effort, part of a run of four straight indoor meets at which he won the pole vault … named Big South Athlete of the Week on Feb. 3 … redshirted during the outdoor campaign … competing unattached, he was victorious in the pole vault at both the Liberty Collegiate Invitational and the Liberty Twilight Qualifier … at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational, he joined the 17-foot club with a 17-0.75 clearance … made the Big South Presidential Honor Roll.

2009 (So.): Won four of his five pole vault competitions, including his second straight Big South indoor title … went over 16-5.25 at the Liberty Quad, setting a new indoor personal best …named ECAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Feb. 18 … outdoor season got off to a promising start, with a victory at the Lynchburg Invitational and a runner-up showing at the Raleigh Relays … however, injuries hampered the rest of his year, and he was limited to a tie for 12th place at the Big South outdoor meet … included on the Big South Presidential Honor Roll for the second year in a row.

2008 (Fr.): Big South indoor and outdoor pole vault champion … set Liberty freshman pole vault records, both indoors (16-4.75) and outdoors (16-6.75) … placed fifth in the pole vault at the IC4A indoor meet, first among freshmen … tabbed ECAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Feb. 28 … qualified for the NCAA regional championship … finished eighth in the pole vault at the USATF Junior Championship … USTFCCCA All-Academic team selection … Big South Presidential Honor Roll.

Prep: Attended Trinity Christian School … won the Georgia state pole vault title as a junior and senior … set a new state meet record with his 14-0 pole vault clearance in 2007.

Personal: Son of David Shepherd and Tammie Collins … major is youth ministries … birthday is April 9.
