Lady Flames Lacrosse Inks 12 Signees

Liberty head lacrosse coach Regan Denham has announced the signing of 12 players to national letters of intent for the 2013-2014 academic year. The 12 signees represent the largest recruiting class for Denham in her fourth year at the helm of the Lady Flames.

The class of 12 – Olivia Becker, Paige Britton, Courtney Brown, Katy Brown, Dominique Dotson, Natalie Emery, Bailey Meador, Kathryn Milwicz, Madalynn Philhower, Michaela Rich, Casey Thate and Faith Wells – has players from six different states, including four from Maryland and three from Virginia.

Olivia Becker (A – Purcellville, Va.)
Becker is a two-year varsity lacrosse letterwinner at Woodgrove High School as an attacker. She helped guide her squad to back-to-back district titles as well as the regional title in 2012. During both the 2011 and 2012 seasons, Becker led her team to an appearance in the state quarterfinals. Becker has played for various club teams, including her most recent squad the FCA National High School team. She is a member of the National Honor Society and holds a 3.7 grade point average.

Paige Britton (A – Annandale, Va.)
A varsity starter and captain on the lacrosse team at Annandale High School, Britton has received first team all-district honors as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She garnered honorable mention all-region recognition during her freshman and sophomore campaigns and was named to the all-region second team as a junior. Britton played for the Capital Lacrosse Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). A member of the National Honor Society, Britton has also lettered in track & field and field hockey.

Courtney Brown (Ladera Ranch, Calif.)
Brown played for the Katy Valkyries of the Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League her first three years of high school, before moving to Ladera Ranch, Calif. where she will play her senior season at Tesoro High School. While playing for the Katy Valkyries, Brown was named team MVP all four seasons. During her freshman year, Brown helped guide the Katy Valkyries to the South Coast League title. She was an all-league selection in 2011 and named to the South District all-star team in 2012. Brown played club lacrosse for the Texas Outlaws and the Texas National Team.

Katy Brown (Ladera Ranch, Calif.)Brown, like her sister Courtney, played for the Katy Valkyries, prior to moving to Ladera Ranch, Calif. As a freshman, Brown played an instrumental role in the Valkyries' South Coast League title. Brown was a South District all-star and all-league selection in 2011. As a team captain, Brown also garnered the squad's Defensive MVP award following her junior season. In 2012, she collected the team's Offensive MVP honor. Brown competed on the club level for the Texas Outlaws and the Texas National Team.

Dominique Dotson (D - Coram, N.Y.)
Dotson is a three-year varsity lacrosse member as she enters her senior season at Longwood High School. In her first three years, the defender has recorded a total of 70 ground balls and 84 forced turnovers. She received the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete award in 2011. Dotson has played club lacrosse for the Midwestern Force and Barefoot Lacrosse.

Natalie Emery (Collierville, Tenn.)
Competing for Briarcrest Christian School, Emery was named the team MVP last season. She was also an all-region and all-state honoree. Emery has been a Tennessee Best of Preps nominee and finalist as well as an All-American nominee. She earned a spot on the 2012 TNLax All-Tournament team. In 2011, Emery was selected to play for Tennessee's Women's Divisional National Tournament team. The past three years, she has been a member of TNLax club team out of Nashville.

Bailey Meador (M - Fishers, Ind.)
Meador enters her senior season at Heritage Christian School as a three-year varsity starter. She has played for the Indy/Kentucky All-Star team as well as the FCA national team. Meador played club lacrosse for Indy United and the Midwestern Force. She garnered recognition from the Association of Christian Schools International for her athletic accomplishments.

Kathryn Milwicz (Forest Hill, Md.)Milwicz helped lead Fallston High School to regional and state titles this past season. She has received the Minds-In-Motion scholar athlete award all four years of high school. Milwicz plays club lacrosse for the Skywalkers. She has also been placed on the honor roll each of her high school years as a result of her academic achievements.

Madalynn Philhower (M/A – Pasadena, Md.)
Philhower was a four-year varsity starter at Northeast High School, playing attack and midfield. She played club lacrosse for CC Lax in 2011 and 2012. Philhower was also a member of the varsity field hockey team, starting all four years of high school. She is also a member of the drama team as an actor and makeup artist. She intends to major in digital media while enrolled at Liberty.

Michaela Rich (Urbana, Md.)As a member of the Linganore High School lacrosse squad, Rich garnered second-team Monocacy Valley Athletic League (MVAL) honors as well as honorable mention recognition from the Frederick Post as a freshman. She earned first-team recognition as a sophomore and junior from the MVAL, Frederick Post and the Gazette. Rich will compete for Team Haudensaunee at the women's lacrosse World Cup in 2013 in Oshawa, Canada.

Casey Thate (D - Gambrills, Md.)
Thate is a three-sport athlete at South River High School, competing in lacrosse, cross country and soccer. She is a four-year member of the lacrosse team and helped her team capture the Anne Arundel County title in 2012. The defender competes with the Chesapeake Lacrosse Club and was a recipient of the Minds-In-Motion award for her athletic and academic accomplishments.

Faith Wells (Haymarket, Va.)
Wells was a first-team all-district and all-region selection following her 2012 season at Battlefield High School. As a team captain her junior year, Wells helped lead her team to the district and regional titles as well as its first appearance in the Virginia state semi-finals. Wells competed for the SuperNoVA Select lacrosse club for three seasons. Wells volunteers in elementary children's ministry and assists in a youth girls' lacrosse league.
