The Flames Sports Network starts its recap of the 2012 football season today with a postseason wrap-up interview with Flames' first year head coach Turner Gill.

The opening month of Gill's tenure at Liberty was daunting, with the Flames squaring off against ACC foe Wake Forest and three-consecutive FCS Top 25 programs. The Flames picked up their first victory under Gill in their Big South opener against Gardner-Webb on Oct. 6, starting a run where Liberty won six of its last seven games.

Liberty finished the season in a three-way tie for first place with Stony Brook and Coastal Carolina in the conference standings, with each program posting a 5-1 record in Big South play.

Liberty capped off its 2012 home slate with a 28-14 victory over No. 6/8 Stony Brook on Nov. 10, which marked the highest ranked opponent the Flames have defeated in program history.

Gill had 13 of his players earn All-Big South honorees (six first-team, seven second-team). Liberty joined Coastal Carolina (eight first-team, five second-team) and Gardner-Webb (four first-team, nine second-team) to lead all Big South teams with 13 total all-conference selections. Stony Brook and Coastal Carolina tied for the Big South lead with eight first-team honorees.
