Devon Brown has been named Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week twice this season and four times during her career.

After helping Liberty defeat a pair of CAA opponents, Liberty redshirt senior guard/forward Devon Brown has been honored as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Basketball Player of the Week. It is the fourth straight week a Lady Flame has captured this award.

Brown, who has been named Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week twice this season and four times in her career, previously won the award on Nov. 26. Teammate Tolu Omotola was honored on Nov. 19 and Dec. 3.

This is the first time Liberty has won four consecutive Big South Player of the Week awards since Jan. 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2004. Katie Feenstra earned all four of those recognitions.

Brown averaged a team-high 19.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 2.5 apg as Liberty defeated James Madison and UNCW last week. She shot 44.4 percent (12-of-27) from the field, while making four three-pointers and hitting 84.6 percent (11-of-13) of her free throws. Brown committed zero turnovers in 57 minutes of playing time for the week.

Playing just 30 miles from her hometown of Waynesboro, Brown led the Lady Flames to their first-ever victory at James Madison on Tuesday, 60-48. She scored 13 of her game-high 22 points after halftime and made all nine of her free throw attempts on the night. Brown also pulled down six rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.

Brown then contributed 17 points, four rebounds and three assists in just 23 minutes of work during Liberty's 84-34 triumph over UNCW, Saturday at the Vines Center. She made three of the Lady Flames' season-high 11 triples and helped limit the Seahawks to their fewest points since Feb. 15, 2001.

For the season, Brown is the Big South's leading scorer at 18.6 ppg, while ranking second in free throw percentage (.865). She also sits second in three-point field goal percentage (.412), fourth in field goal percentage (.478) and 10th in three-point field goals made per game (1.6).

Brown and the Lady Flames are preparing for an upcoming stretch of three home games in five days. Liberty will host Bluefield State Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. Saturday tilt against North Carolina A&T. The Lady Flames will close out the four-game homestand Monday at noon against Virginia Union.
