Liberty Softball Head Coach Paul Wetmore has announced that two student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to join the Lady Flames' softball team in 2013-14.

Liberty softball head coach Paul Wetmore has announced the addition of two student-athletes to the Lady Flames' softball team. Michele Brown and Brittany Jones have both signed national letters of intent to attend Liberty University for the 2013-14 academic year.

Brown and Jones will join a deep Lady Flames roster, as all 21 players on Liberty's 2013 squad have eligibility through at least the 2014 season. Liberty opens the 2013 season at the Kennesaw State Classic in Woodstock, Ga., Feb. 16-17.

Michele Brown (UTL, Houston, Texas)
Michele Brown has been a three-year letterwinner at James E. Taylor High School in Houston. A career .340 hitter in high school, Brown was named Taylor High School's Female Athlete of the Year in 2009. She was named second team all-district in 2011 and 2012 and is a three-time academic all-district selection.

Brown has played club softball for the Houston Power for six years, attending four ASA National Championships. She is a member of National Honor Society and is active in community service.

"We are very pleased to have Michele join our team," Wetmore said. "She can play multiple positions in the outfield, along with third base and catcher. She has good foot speed and brings a great bat to the lineup. We think she will come in and be an impact player."

Brittany Jones (LHP, Glen Burnie, Md.)
Brittany Jones has been a starting pitcher at North County High School each of her first three seasons. Jones holds a .457 career batting average, and has thrown a perfect game as well. She is a three-time all-county selection, including first team in 2011 and 2012. Jones was named to the All-Met second team as a sophomore and a junior, and is a two-year varsity MVP.

In club softball, Jones has eight years of Gold Level experience, most recently with MD Chill, where her team won the 2012 ASA state championship. Jones has received more than 20 MVP player awards during her club softball career.

"Brittany will be a great asset to our pitching staff as a left hander, adding depth and experience," Wetmore said. "She has great spins and movement and has played at the Gold Level for a number of years. We are thrilled to have her as a part of our program."
