Two rushing touchdowns and a forced turnover in the fourth quarter helped the Flames secure a 33-14 win at VMI and a fifth Big South title in the last six seasons.

The Flames won their seventh straight game against VMI with the 19-point victory and moved to 9-3 all-time against the in-state foe. Liberty is 9-1 against VMI since the Keydets joined the Big South in 2003.

The win allowed the Flames to finish in a three-way tie for first place in the Big South with Stony Brook and Coastal Carolina. With the win, Liberty has now won Big South titles in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012.

Liberty also extended a winning season streak to seven-straight seasons, as the Flames finish their first campaign under head coach Turner Gill with a 6-5 record. Gill became the fourth coach in program history to post a winning record during his first year at the helm of the program.
