Game Notes: Men's Basketball Hosts High-Scoring VMI On Saturday

The Liberty University Flames (8-12, 2-4 Big South) return home to take on the Virginia Military Institute Keydets (10-12, 3-3 Big South) at the Vines Center (8,500) in Lynchburg, Va., on Jan. 27, 2007. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. EST.
The game will be televised on the Flames Television Network with play-by-play by Ray Jones and color analysis from Tim Scarborough. The broadcast will also be streamed live on the internet via the Big South EDGE at BigSouthSports.com.
The game will be broadcast on WRVL 88.3 FM with play-by-play by Jerry Edwards.
All games can also be heard via the Internet by logging onto the Flames' web page (www.LibertyFlames.com) and clicking on the "Live Audio" link.
Flames' head coach Randy Dunton is currently in his sixth year overall as head coach of the Liberty basketball program. He served as the interim head coach during the 1997-98 season and was named full-time head coach prior to the 2002-03 campaign. Dunton has posted a 60-79 record since returning to Liberty, which includes two second- place finishes in the Big South and a share of the regular-season title in 2004 en route to the program's second-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Duggar Baucom became the 29th head basketball coach of the Virginia Military Institute on April 12, 2005, bringing impressive credentials from Tusculum College in Greenville,Tenn., where he directed the NCAA Division II Pioneers to back-to-back winning seasons including a conference regular season and conference tournament championship.
Baucom is in his second season at VMI and brings a 16-32 career record with the Keydets into tonight's game.

VMI holds the all-time series advantage with a 7-5 mark. The Flames
are 1-6 at VMI and 4-1 at home. The Flames won the last meeting, on
Feb. 2, 2006 at the Vines Center, 71-67.

Larry Blair Versus VMI
In six career games against the Keydets, Larry Blair is averaging 17.5
points per game. Last season Blair scored 28 and 23 points in Liberty's
meetings with VMI.

The Flames are 6-1 when leading at halftime, 2-10 when the opponent
is leading and their record is 0-1 when the score is tied at halfime.
Road Losing Streak Snapped
The Flames snapped their 21-game road losing streak with a 66-63
victory at Charleston Southern on Monday night. The last time the
Flames won an away game was on Feb. 24, 2005, when Liberty beat
UNC Asheville, 92-80.

Larry Blair is quickly climbing the Liberty and Big South Conference all-time scoring lists. Blair entered the season with 1,580 career points. Here is how Blair currently stacks up on the Liberty and Big South all-time scoring lists:
Blair needs 184 points or to average 16.73 points per game through the Flames' remaining 11 games which includes the first round of the Big South Championship to take sole possession of the Big South career scoring title.

Blair Looks For 2,000 point plateau
Larry Blair needs 32 points to become the third person ever in the Big South and at Liberty to score 2,000 career points. Blair will become the 429th player in NCAA Division I history to reach the 2,000 point landmark.
Blair will become the fourth player this season to reach the milestone. Caleb Green of Oral Roberts, Nick Fazekas of Nevada and Gary Neal of Towson State & La Salle all accomplished this feat earlier this season.
Blair scored 26 points to Green's 19 when Liberty and Oral Roberts met in the BYU Holiday Classic on Dec. 30.
Larry Blair A Scoring Machine
During Larry Blair's career, he has scored at least 20 points in 47 of
his 111 games. Blair has scored at least 15 points in 71 out of 111 career
games and has tallied double figures in 41-straight contests and 53 of his
last 54 games.
Blair has tallied double figures in 94 of his 111 career games, which
includes 105 career starts. In addition to Blair, only three other active
NCAA Division I players are approaching or have accomplished at least
100 career starts and 100 double figure scoring games. Nick Fazekas of
Nevada has 103 starts and 101 career double-figure scoring games,
Jamar Wilson of Albany has 106 career starts and 92 career double-figure
scoring games and Brandon Heath of San Diego State has 106 starts
and 98 career double-figure scoring games.

points to become the 45th player to score 500 career points for the
