Liberty will welcome Grambling State, Sacred Heart and Sam Houston State to the Vines Center for Preseason WNIT consolation round games, Friday and Saturday.

Preseason WNIT Consolation Bracket

The Liberty women's basketball team will open its 2012-13 home schedule earlier than anticipated, as the Lady Flames have been selected to host Preseason WNIT consolation round games, Friday and Saturday at the Vines Center. Liberty will face Grambling State on Friday, with Sacred Heart and Sam Houston State squaring off in Friday's other tilt.

Friday's two winning teams will match up against one another on Saturday, as will the two losing squads. All game times will be announced on Monday.

This will be the second time Liberty has ever hosted a Preseason WNIT game. The Lady Flames dropped a 59-57 decision to VCU at the Vines Center in the opening round of the 2008 Preseason WNIT.

All four teams in Liberty's consolation bracket will be looking to rebound from season-opening losses on Friday. The Lady Flames tipped off the 2012-13 season with a 63-46 setback at Duquesne, while Grambling State fell to Memphis, 92-42. Sacred Heart lost a 90-63 decision to Georgetown, and Sam Houston State was defeated by nationally-ranked Delaware, 63-31.

Liberty has never faced Grambling State, Sacred Heart or Sam Houston State in women's basketball. Sacred Heart and Sam Houston State both experienced postseason play a year ago, with Sacred Heart playing in the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship and Sam Houston State in the WBI.
