The Liberty Lady Flames tennis team has been selected to finish sixth in the Big South Conference's annual preseason poll, as voted on by the conference's head women's tennis coaches and sports information directors.

The yearly poll features five-time defending conference champion Winthrop as the conference's unanimous preseason favorite. The Eagles received all 16 first-place votes and 128 overall points. Winthrop was trailed closely by Coastal Carolina, which garnered 107 points.

High Point finished third in the poll, followed by Charleston Southern and Birmingham-Southern at fourth and fifth, respectively. The Lady Flames, coming off a 10-9 season and their first conference tournament match win in last year's tournament, finished sixth in the poll with 56 overall points. Radford and UNC Asheville rounded out the voting, finishing seventh and eighth.

The Lady Flames, led by first-year head coach Chris Johnson, begin their season at home indoors at the Sports Racket on Feb. 3 versus North Carolina A&T. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
