Q&A With Shea Thomas
The Liberty men's tennis team enters the 2013 season looking to build upon a very successful 2011-12 season. Last season's total of 15 wins marked the program's second highest single-season win total. The Flames racked up 90 singles victories on the year, as five players notched double-digit win totals for the first time since the 1990 season. Liberty returns four players from last season's squad and also welcomes four new players to the team. Throughout the 2012-2013 season, LibertyFlames.com will provide a look at each of the Flames' players.
Junior Shea Thomas finished the 2012 spring season with 10 singles wins and a team-best mark in doubles play of 17-4. Thomas played the majority of his singles and doubles matches in the No. 2 position for the Flames. The California native is coming off a very strong fall season, including a singles and doubles championship at the UVa Fall Classic. At the ITA Atlantic Regional in Charlottesville, Thomas garnered his first seed for the regional tournament and advanced to the round of 32.
From the Head Coach: "We are so proud of Shea! He has been our most improved player the last two years. He has invested a huge amount into his tennis game and into Liberty Tennis as well. After looking at his results this fall, I expect this spring will be a breakout year for Shea."
