FSN Weekly Preview: Concord
The Flames will face their final non-conference opponent of the regular season on Saturday when Concord makes the trip from Athens, W.Va., to Williams Stadium.
The Mountain Lions are 4-3 on the year and have won three of their last four games, all West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletics Conference contests (WVIAC). Concord posted a 14-9 win over Glenville State at home on Oct. 6 before rallying for a road win over Seton Hill, 29-26, last Saturday.
Offensively, Concord ranks No. 128 among Division II programs (156 total Division II teams), averaging 315.71 yards per game. Evin Dusold came into the Seton Hill game after the first quarter and completed 17-of-20 passing attempts for 225 yards and a pair of touchdown passes to lead the road rally.
The strength of the Mountain Lions' program is its defense, with Concord ranking No. 32 in the country by allowing 317.29 yards per game and No. 35 by allowing 19.86 points per game. Only two of Concord's seven 2012 opponents have scored more than three touchdowns.
The Flames will be facing Concord for the first time since 2005 and the fifth time overall. Liberty's leads the series, 4-0, and has outscored Concord 132-17 in the previous four meetings.
