With Big South play set to kick off this weekend with a trio of league games, the Flames Sports Network looks ahead at this year's battle for the conference crown in today's video feature.

Defending Big South champion Stony Brook has picked up right where it left off after claiming its first title in 2011 and the league's first-ever FCS Playoff victory.

The Seawolves are 4-1 on the year and ranked No. 13 in both the Sports Network and FCS Coaches polls. Stony Brook is coming off its most impressive victory of the year where Stony Brook completely dominated Army in a 23-3 victory to record the program's first-ever win over a FBS program.

Coastal Carolina got off to a hot start to begin the year with victories over North Carolina A&T and Furman. However, the Chanticleers are now 2-3 after a pair of Top 25 setbacks (Eastern Kentucky and Appalachian State) and a loss to Toledo.

Presbyterian College recorded a pair of victories during the month of September for the first time since 2001, matching Coastal Carolina's 2-3 record to begin the year. The Blue Hose opened the year with a home victory over Brevard and will enter Big South play following a road victory over Davidson.

The final four teams in the league are still looking for their first Division I victory of the year. Charleston Southern and VMI are both 1-4, with the Buccaneers picking up a road victory over Shorter and the Keydets winning at home over Chowan. Both Liberty and Gardner-Webb will be looking for their first win of 2012 on Saturday at Williams Stadium.
