Arizona State posted a historic win in the annals of its program as the Sun Devils picked up their 450th dual meet win in a come-from-behind 31-16 victory over Liberty, Saturday morning, to eliminate the Flames from the Virginia Duals.

With the loss, the Flames' record falls to 8-6 on the season and Arizona State raises its record to 4-7 on the year. With the victory, the Sun Devils advance to a match-up with Bloomsburg as Arizona State continues in the consolation bracket.

John Espinoza gave Arizona State an early lead, 3-0, after a 5-2 decision win over Christian Smith at 125 pounds. However, Liberty won four out of the next five matches to take a double-digit lead.

The Flames started their run as Sam Walters won in a 4-0 decision over Angel Alegre at 133 pounds, followed by Tim Harner's 9-4 decision win over Robert Galvan at 141 pounds.

Aaron Kelley kept things going for the Flames with a 16-7 major decision win over Chris Remsen at 149 pounds. Brian Stith, last year's national runner-up and who currently ranks fifth in the latest NWCA poll at 157 pounds, ended the Flames run with a 14-3 major decision win over Shaun Smith, but Chad Porter came back to pin Cam Smith, 3:20, to give the Flames a 16-7 lead.

However, the Sun Devils closed out the match-up strong with four-straight victories, including three-straight falls to secure the comeback victory.

Alex Pavlenko started the Devils closing stretch with a win by fall over Jonathan Campbell, 2:01, at 174 pounds, followed by Greg Gifford's pin of Chris Daggett, 3:53, at 184 pounds.

Jason Trulson gave Arizona State its three-straight win by fall as he pinned Josh Moore, a spring semester transfer for the Flames, just 15 seconds into the match at 197 pounds. Thor Moen closed out the match picking up a win by forfeit to secure the win for the Sun Devils.

Liberty finishes its appearance at the Virginia Duals with a 1-2 record after falling to Old Dominion, 38-6, and downing The Citadel, 24-21, in yesterday's action.

The Flames return to action next weekend with a pair of tri-matches. Liberty takes on Bucknell and Millersville on Friday at Bucknell, followed by a tri-match with Messiah and Wilkes at Wilkes on Saturday.
