Liberty Baseball to Hold Scout Day, Thursday
The Liberty baseball team will hold its Scout Day, Thursday afternoon at Worthington Stadium. The Flames will work out for Major League Baseball scouts from 2-5 p.m.
Over the past two years, 10 Liberty players have been taken in the Major League Baseball Entry Draft held each June. In 2011, a Big South Conference and school-record seven Flames were selected by Major League teams.
Last season, the Flames posted a 41-19 record during head coach Jim Toman's fifth season. It is the second time in the past three years that Liberty has won 40 more games in a season. The Flames won a school-record 43 games in 2010. The 2012 team set school records in ERA, shutouts and fielding percentage.
Fall practice will continue for the Flames through the end of October. Liberty practices Tuesday-Sunday, starting at 2 p.m. each day.
