Hannah Jones notched assists on two of Liberty's four goals against the Colonials.

Natalie Barr's goal with 4:46 remaining in the second pushed the Liberty Lady Flames past the Robert Morris Colonials, 4-2, Friday afternoon at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.

The win evens the Lady Flames' overall record at 4-4 (1-1 NorPac), while Robert Morris drops its third contest in a row to fall to 3-5 (0-0 NEC).

The Colonials wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard, as Taleah Scott deflected a Jamie Hartley pass into the back of the cage a mere 1:39 into the contest to put Robert Morris on top 1-0.

After the early goal, Liberty's defense bounced back and did not allow a shot for the remainder of the first half.

The Lady Flames' offense did not convert on several scoring opportunities early in the first half. Sarah Gipe, Abbey Basom and Elly Chipman each fired shots on goal for the Lady Flames, but each attempt proved unsuccessful.

Liberty lit up the scoreboard with 10:13 remaining in the opening frame. Off of a penalty corner, Helen Doolittle ripped the ball towards the goal, where a diving Gipe got her stick on the ball and tipped it past Colonials' goalie Erin McKenzie into the back of the cage to knot the score at one apiece. The goal was Gipe's team leading fifth of the season.

The score remained tied as the first half buzzer sounded, with Liberty holding the first half advantage in shots, 7-1, and penalty corners, 7-2.

In the 41st minute, Liberty's Chipman collected the ball inside the circle and fired a shot along the turf that rolled under the pads of McKenzie and in, giving the Lady Flames the 2-1 lead. The goal was Chipman's first of her career.

The Colonials tied the game with 16:15 remaining, scoring on just their second shot of the contest. Jamie Hartley found teammate Courtney Schratz with a pass from the right side of the circle and Shratz converted for her third goal of the season to make it 2-2.

Liberty's offense attacked the Colonials relentlessly in the final 16 minutes of the game and the pressure paid off in the 66th minute. Barr received the insert pass from Hannah Jones on a penalty corner and scored on a direct shot to put the Lady Flames in front, 3-2.

The Lady Flames tacked on their fourth goal with no time remaining in the contest. Off of a penalty corner, Chipman notched her second goal of the match. She gathered the insert pass from Jones and blasted the ball into the cage for the final 4-2 margin of victory.

For the contest, Liberty outshot the Colonials, 15-3, and earned 14 penalty corners to Robert Morris' two.

Liberty goalie Brooke Morley tallied one save, while McKenzie stopped six shots.

The four goals match Liberty's season high, equaling their total scored against both Georgetown and Penn.

Chipman's two goals tied a single-game program record with four other Lady Flames.

The Lady Flames return to action on Sunday versus La Salle at the Liberty Field Hockey Field. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
