Following a third-place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational, junior Niklas Lindstrom has been named the Big South Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Lindstrom carded the second-best final round in the 63-man field on Tuesday to climb into a share of third place following 54 holes of action. Lindstrom was one of eight golfers to finish one shot off the pace with a three-over par 216 (72-72-72).

The third-place finish marked the sixth time in Lindstrom's career that he has posted a Top 5 finish at a collegiate event.

Following two events this season, Lindstrom ranks second on the team with a 74.67 stroke average, which is exactly a half stroke above his career stroke average (74.17).

Lindstrom and the rest of the Flames will play the third tournament of their four-event fall schedule on Oct. 1 and 2 at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate.

The Flames have played at the Michigan State-hosted event in each of the last two years, spotlighted by a tie for first place in 2010. The 54-hole event will once again be contested at the Haig Point Golf Course in Daufuskie Island, S.C.
