FSN Weekly Preview: Lehigh
The Flames will square off against No. 16/13 Lehigh, Saturday night, at Williams Stadium, capping off their September schedule and Liberty's Athletics Hall of Fame Weekend.
The match-up will be the third in the series between the two programs, with the Mountain Hawks having walked away victorious in both previous meetings. In 2004, Lehigh visited Williams Stadium and won 34-16, while the Mountain Hawks survived a last-drive push from the Flames to hang on for a 27-24 victory at home, last season.
Lehigh is one of 12 teams in the country who enter the fourth weekend of NCAA FCS play with an unblemished 3-0 record. The Mountain Hawks have won three games in a row due largely to the play of their defense. Lehigh ranks No. 13 in the country in total defense (273.33 yards allowed per game) and No. 17 in scoring defense (15.00 points allowed per game).
The game will be Liberty's final contest before the Flames open Big South Conference play. Following a bye week, Liberty will begin its 11th season of Big South football when they welcome Gardner-Webb to Williams Stadium on Oct. 6.
