Valerie Thong

Under the direction of first year head coach Jeff Maren, the Liberty women's tennis team enters the 2012-13 season with high hopes for success. Throughout the 2012-2013 season, LibertyFlames.com will provide a look at each of the Lady Flames' players.

Freshman Valerie Thong comes to Liberty from Alahambra, Calif., where she attended Campbell Hall High School. While at Campbell Hall, Thong helped guide her team to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division 1 championship twice. She was also a three-time CIF doubles champion.

From the Head Coach: "I have been very impressed with Val's work ethic and desire to improve every day.  She has tremendous potential to be an impact player in both singles and doubles, and with only three weeks of practice under her belt, she has already had a positive influence on our program.  We are blessed to have her on the team!"

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Deuteronomy 31:6. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

It's one of my favorite bible verses because it's the ultimate trump card to my greatest fears. Anytime I am afraid or scared in any way, this verse reminds me that God is always with me and protecting me. I fear nothing knowing that he is always with me.
