Liberty women's soccer midfielder/defender Lauren Stell has been tabbed the Big South Attacking Player of the Week.

Liberty women's soccer midfielder/defender Lauren Stell has been tabbed the Big South Women's Soccer Attacking Player of the Week for games played Aug. 27-Sept. 2. The announcement was made by the conference earlier this afternoon.

Stell's honor marks the first player of the week nod of her Liberty career. The senior finished the week with game-winning goals in victories over American and Old Dominion, helping Liberty to its best six-game start in program history (4-2).

Stell kick started her productive week in Liberty's 2-0 win over American, Friday. In the 70th minute, she tapped in a loose ball off a Brittany Aanderud corner kick, giving Liberty a 1-0 lead over the Eagles.

On Sunday, Stell provided the Lady Flames with their lone goal of the contest, connecting on a penalty kick in the 59th minute. Liberty's win marked its first-ever victory against the Lady Monarchs. With her pair of game-winners, the Exton, Pa., native shares the team lead in goals (2) and points (5) with freshman forward Crystal Elmers.

Stell and the Lady Flames hope to extend their three-game winning streak on Friday, when they host BIG EAST member Pittsburgh. Due to renovations at Osborne Stadium the contest will take place at the Campus East Athletics Fields. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
