Defending Big South Champions to Open Practice for 2012 Season

Two-time All-Region and Big South defender Uriah Bentick will be one of 27 Flames beginning preseason practice on Thursday.

The defending Big South Champion Liberty Flames men's soccer team will begin preparations for the upcoming 2012 season, Thursday morning.

After capturing the 2011 Big South title and finishing last season with an 11-6-3 record, their fifth consecutive double-digit victory campaign, the Flames look to defend their crown.

Head Coach Jeff Alder's team opens preseason practice with a roster of 27 players, 14 of which return from last season's squad. The Flames will look to replace five players from last year's team which have gone on to play professionally.

Liberty's preseason will include exhibition contests against Virginia Tech at Osborne Stadium on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. and at Virginia on Aug. 18.

Liberty will begin its 2012 season Aug. 24 at Osborne Stadium by hosting the N.C. State Wolfpack.
