2012-13 Liberty Swimming Schedule

Liberty Swimming Head Coach Jake Shellenberger has announced the Lady Flames' 2012-13 schedule.

The Liberty swimming program will compete in nine intercollegiate meets, including two home events, during the Lady Flames' third year. The team will swim against Commonwealth foe Virginia Tech for the first time. The Hokies are one of three teams on Liberty's schedule (also UConn, South Carolina) which scored points at the 2012 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships.

Liberty begins the season on Oct. 13, facing conference opponent Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C.
The Lady Flames then compete in the Virginia Tech Sprint Classic on Oct. 20, a meet that also includes Gardner-Webb and VMI.

The team opens November with a tri-meet at Boston College on Nov. 2, facing the ACC's Eagles and Maine of the Atlantic 10.

From Nov. 15-17, the Lady Flames will swim at an invitational at Virginia Tech for the first time. That meet features five NCAA scoring teams in Liberty, Virginia Tech, UConn, South Carolina and West Chester (Division II).

Lady Flames who qualify will compete in the AT&T USA Swimming Winter Nationals in Austin, Texas from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1. Last season, Brye Ravettine qualified for the Olympic Trials with her time at Winter Nationals.

For the third season in a row, Liberty swimming will take a January training trip to Fort Myers, Fla. The trip is highlighted by a quad meet at four-time defending CCSA champion Florida Gulf Coast, Jan. 5.

The Lady Flames host two meets at the LaHaye Aquatics Center, facing Duquesne on Jan. 11 and Marshall on Jan. 26.

Liberty will attempt to repeat its undefeated performance from the 2012 Davidson Duals, with the 2013 edition to be contested on Feb. 2.

The team finished in second place at the 2012 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championships, and aims for further success at the 2013 conference championship from Feb. 21-23 in Athens, Ga.

The 2013 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Ind., March 21-23. In 2012, Ravettine competed in three events at the NCAA National Championships, placing 13th in the 50 free to become Liberty's first swimming All-American.

The Lady Flames will have additional opportunities to compete on the national stage during the summer of 2013. The ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships take place June 25-29 in Indianapolis, Ind., while the U.S. Open Championships will be held July 30-Aug. 3 in Irvine, Calif.
