Gill Announces Varol's Dismissal from Program

Liberty Head Football Coach Turner Gill has announced the dismissal of defensive lineman Paco Varol from the football program, effective immediately.

"Defensive lineman Paco Varol has been dismissed from football team due to violating team policy," commented Gill. "His dismissal goes into effect immediately."

In two seasons with the program, Varol saw playing time in 15 games and started five contests in 2011 at defensive end.

Varol recorded 28 tackles (14 solo, 14 assisted), including three tackles for a loss and two sacks.  The Hamburg, Germany native opened a 27-tackle season in 2011 with seven stops (five solo, two assisted) against N.C. State, which included two tackles for a loss and a sack against the ACC foe.

The Flames will open up their August preseason training camp on Aug. 2 in preparation for their 2012 opener against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Sept. 1.

Liberty's begins the home portion of its 2012 schedule on Sept. 8 at Williams Stadium against Norfolk State at 7 p.m., one of four 2011 NCAA FCS Playoff participants the Flames will face this upcoming season.
