Liberty setter Kallie Corbin has been voted the 2006 Virginia University Division Volleyball Rookie of the Year by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID), becoming the first player in program history to be so honored. In addition, Corbin and senior middle blocker Autum Black both earned spots on the VaSID All-State second-team roster.

Virginia senior setter Sarah Kirkwood was named the VaSID Volleyball Player of the Year and James Madison's Disa Garner was tabbed the VaSID Volleyball Coach of the Year, highlighting the awards announced, Wednesday.

Corbin and Black are the fourth and fifth netters in Liberty history to be included on the VaSID All-State teams. It is the first time the Lady Flames have put two players on the VaSID teams in the same season. Liberty's Rachel Harnack was a member of the first team in 2001 and was a second-team selection in 2000.  Erin McKeown was a first-team honoree in 2002, and Kristin Colson was included on the 2004 second team.

The honors represent the most recent accolades garnered by Corbin (Beaverton, Ore.) after a stellar freshman campaign with the Lady Flames. Corbin was previously named the Big South Volleyball Freshman of the Year, was a second-team All-Big South honoree and was included on the Big South All-Freshman Team. During the season, she was the Big South Freshman of the Week twice and the Big South Player of the Week on another occasion.

Corbin led the conference in aces (0.49 apg), as her 52 aces were the most by a Liberty player in a single season since 1997. The freshman also ended up seventh on the conference assist list (10.11 apg) and was 10th in digs (3.55 dpg). Corbin, the only Big South player to record a triple-double this season, did so four times.

Black (Mingoville, Pa.) was a Big South All-Conference first-team honoree at season's end. An interiors and fashion merchandising major, she was additionally included on the Big South All-Academic Team for the second-straight campaign.

Black ranked third in the Big South Conference in both attack percentage (.275) and blocks (1.07 bpg). The former walk-on paced Liberty with a career-best 104 total blocks during her final season as a Lady Flame.
