From the press box overlooking UNF's Hodges Stadium, LibertyFlames.com will provide live blog coverage of all three days of the 2012 NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet.

Twelve will be the magic number in hot, humid Jacksonville, Fla., as the top 12 competitors in each event will earn the right to compete in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. That meet will be contested June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Each of Liberty's five athletes competing on the meet's final day certainly has a realistic chance at a top 12 finish and Des Moines qualification. Kolby Shepherd will be seeking his second straight trip to Des Moines, while it would be the first NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships appearance for the other four Flames and Lady Flames. Here is a look at today's schedule:

11 a.m. – Men's Pole Vault (Kolby Shepherd)
2 p.m. – Women's Hammer (Melinda Bendik)
4:30 p.m. – Women's Triple Jump (Mia Aghaji)
5 p.m. – Men's High Jump (Kyle Wheeler)
5 p.m. – Men's Shot Put (Ryan Smith)

I will once again use the interactive CoveritLive blog interface. This format allows readers to submit comments and questions throughout the day, as you follow your favorite Flames and Lady Flames.

Without further ado, go Liberty!
