As the Liberty softball team prepares for the 2012 Big South Softball Championship, LibertyFlames.com's Nick Pierce caught up with head coach Paul Wetmore and senior outfielder Meredith Crisante.

The Lady Flames, the defending Big South champions, went 9-12 in conference play this season and enter the Big South Softball Championship as the No. 6 seed. Crisante was one of the top hitters in the conference during Big South play, placing in the top five in the conference in five offensive categories.

Last season, Liberty dropped its first game at the Big South Softball Championship before winning four straight contests to claim its second conference tournament title, and first since 2002.

The 2012 Big South Softball Championship takes place tomorrow through Sunday in Radford, Va. The Lady Flames open tournament play against No. 3 seed Charleston Southern tomorrow at 2 p.m.
