Lacrosse Set for NLC Tournament as No. 6 Seed
After recording a 2-5 mark in National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) play this season, the Lady Flames will garner the No. 6 seed for this weekend's year-end conference tournament. Davidson's Richardson Stadium serves as host for the second straight year, with the event taking place Friday through Sunday.
The Lady Flames will open the tournament against No. 3 seed Detroit (7-8, 5-2 NLC), who provided the conference's biggest turnaround after going 2-5 last season. The opening draw is slated for 7 p.m., Friday evening. Head Coach Regan Denham's squad will look to avenge a 19-5 road loss to the Titans this season, in order to advance to the semifinals.
Three other quarterfinal games will be contested prior to Liberty's evening matchup. An 11:30 a.m. meeting between undefeated No. 1 seed High Point (13-3, 7-0) and No. 8 Howard (0-11, 0-7) will kick off the tournament, while host No. 4 Davidson (7-8, 4-3) and No. 5 Longwood (3-12, 3-4) square off at 2 p.m. The 4:30 p.m. game pits No. 2 Jacksonville (12-4, 6-1) against No. 7 Presbyterian College (2-15, 1-6).
If the Lady Flames were to knock off the Titans, they would take on the victor of Game 3 (Jacksonville/Presbyterian College) at 2 p.m., Saturday. However, a Liberty loss would drop the team to the consolation bracket, where they would play the loser of Game 3 at 4:30 p.m., Saturday.
The weekend culminates with the championship game at 1 p.m., Sunday.
