A pair of Liberty swimmers were named to the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-American Team, as announced today. Sophomore Brye Ravettine earned first-team honors, while freshman Cori Gary was given honorable mention status.

A total of 24 women and nine men earned All-American status based on qualifying for and being invited to the 2012 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships. An additional 130 men and 121 female swimmers were awarded honorable mention status. Honorable mention selections are swimmers who were entered with NCAA B standards, but not selected for the 2012 NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships.

This is the second year that Ravettine has been listed on the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-American Team, as she received honorable mention in 2011.

Ravettine, a native of Mahwah, N.J., earned Honorable Mention All-America recognition at the 2012 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships, finishing in 13th place in the women's 50 freestyle. She also competed in the 100 free and 100 back at NCAA nationals.

Ravettine was named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Year and Women's Swimmer of the Meet, as she won two individual events at the conference championships and swam on two winning relays. She has also qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, by swimming a 25.99 in the 50-meter freestyle at the USA Swimming Winter National Championships.

Gary, a San Antonio, Texas, product, had a standout freshman season, highlighted by her third-place finish in the 50 free at the CCSA Championships. She swam a 22.87 in the final of the 50 free to earn an NCAA B cut.

Gary also contributed to Liberty's victorious and conference record-setting 200 free and 400 free relays at the conference championships. A freshman, Gary's top times of 22.87 in the 50 free and 51.13 in the 100 free both rank second in program history behind Ravettine.

The following conferences have been designated as Mid-Majors: America East, Atlantic 10, Colonial Athletic Association, Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mountain Pacific, Missouri Valley, Patriot, Sun Belt, Summit, and Western Athletic.
