Spring Football Practice Report: Practice No. 15
After hosting their annual spring football game on Saturday, the Liberty Flames returned to the practice field one more time for the last workout of the spring season on Tuesday.
Following the two-plus hour practice session, Flames Sports Network reporter Alan York had a chance to talk with Liberty's defensive coordinator Robert Wimberly.
Defense controlled the pace of play for the Flames during their annual spring game on Saturday, as the 7-3 victory by the Blue team over the Red squad went without an offensive touchdown. Defenders on both squads combined to record 13 tackles for a loss and eight total sacks.
Liberty's defensive unit returns eight players who started in 2011, helping the Flames finished the season ranked No. 30 in the nation in scoring defense and No. 35 in total defense.
Now that the Liberty has completed its 15 allotted practices of the spring, the Flames will head into the summer offseason. Players will voluntarily workout to stay in shape for August training camp and Liberty's 2012 season opener at Wake Forest on Sept. 1.
