Brittany Yang secured her team-leading 11th singles win, Friday.

The Lady Flames wrapped up their Big South slate for 2012, Friday, picking up a 7-0 win over UNC Asheville at the Esbenshade Tennis Courts. Prior to the match, the team's lone senior, Carol Lobel, was honored as Senior Day was celebrated.

Liberty levels its overall record to 11-11 with the victory, while posting a 4-4 mark in conference action on the year. UNC Asheville drops to 6-12 for 2012, and 0-5 in conference play.

Despite falling behind early in a pair of the doubles contests, the Lady Flames rallied in both to win all three matches. Sophomores Alexandra Sheeran and Rebekah Jenkins picked up the first victory, winning 8-5 over Devon Cavanaugh and Jenna Dodge in the No. 2 contest. Despite trailing 3-2 early, Lobel and Jessie Boda took six of the next eight games to secure the doubles point with an 8-4 win in the No. 3 slot.  Cameron Richard and Brittany Yang also faced a 3-2 deficit, but closed strong to win, 9-7, over Emily McNall and Christine Boissevain at No. 1.

The Lady Flames then benefitted from a default in the No. 6 singles match to go up 2-0.

Next, Liberty claimed three matches, which all included a 6-0 set for the victors. Lobel celebrated her senior day by closing out Amie Cloer in the No. 5 slot, 6-0, 6-1, to notch her 10th singles win of the season. Sheeran faced some opposition from McNall in the No. 1 contest, winning 6-4. The sophomore then closed strong, taking the second set, 6-0, to clinch the team win for the hosts. Jenkins opened with a 6-0 set over Dodge, and held strong in the second, 6-3, to earn her ninth singles win of the spring.

Freshman Yang picked up her team-leading 11th singles win of the year after a win in the No. 3 contest, downing Boissevain in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Richard completed the sweep with a come-from-behind victory at No. 2. The sophomore dropped the first set, 6-4, but recovered quickly, taking the second set, 6-1. In the ten-point, rally-scored breaker to decide the match, Richard won easily, 10-4.

While today's match concludes the Lady Flames' current schedule, it is yet to be determined if yesterday's postponed match with James Madison will be rescheduled. If the match is not made up, the Lady Flames will begin the Big South Women's Tennis Championship on April 19.
