Spring Football Practice Report - Practice No. 7
Following Thursday afternoon's workout, FSN reporter Alan York caught up with assistant coach Jamaal Fobbs to get an update on the progress of Liberty's running backs this spring.
The Flames are nearing the midpoint of their spring practice schedule and Fobbs has now had a chance to work with one of the deepest returning positions on Liberty's roster for several weeks.
Liberty returns its top three running backs from last year's depth chart and three of the top four run producers from the squad in 2011 season. Graduated quarterback Mike Brown was the fourth player in this list, as he finished the season with 437 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
Among the three returning running backs are rising seniors Aldreakis Allen, who led the team with 612 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, and SirChauncey Holloway, who finished the season with 294 yards and four touchdowns. Desmond Rice finished his first year on the field for Liberty with 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Liberty will have tomorrow off to help prepare the team for its second full scrimmage of its spring practice schedule. The two-hour workout, which is closed to the public, will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning inside of Williams Stadium.
