McIntosh Named NLC Defensive Player of the Week
Liberty defender Chloe McIntosh has been named the National Lacrosse Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, marking the second straight time Liberty has earned the award. Goalkeeper Kristen Masullo garnered the award the previous week. The weekly awards were announced last night, as McIntosh earned her first career weekly recognition from the conference.
McIntosh, who is serving her third year as a co-captain, earned the honor by helping the Lady Flames post a 1-1 mark from the defensive end in games played from March 12-18.
For the week, the Dallas, Texas native recorded a total of eight ground balls and also caused five turnovers.
The senior had a strong performance against St. Francis, Pa., as Liberty earned the 13-9 win over the homestanding Red Flash. McIntosh picked up a game-high five ground balls, caused two turnovers, and played an instrumental part in keeping St. Francis scoreless for nearly a 20-minute span in the second half. During the stretch, Liberty's offense converted five goals en route to the victory.
In Liberty's defeat to George Mason, the on-field anchor for Liberty's defense recorded three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
McIntosh and the Lady Flames play another contest in Pennsylvania this week, matching up with Bucknell, Wednesday.
