Brye Ravettine earned All-America honorable mention by placing 13th in the 50 free at the 2012 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships.

Liberty swimming received its first All-America award on Thursday, as Brye Ravettine placed 13th in the 50 free at the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

With her 13th place overall finish in the 50 free, she earned All-American honorable mention, scoring four points for the Lady Flames. She clocked a 22.30 during the B Final, placing fifth in her heat. Liv Jensen of California won the championship, swimming 21.48.

Ravettine's time in Thursday's final was the second best among sophomores entered in the 50 freestyle.

While competing in the ninth and final 50 freestyle prelim in the afternoon, the native of Mahwah, N.J., swam 22.28, good enough for the 13th fastest qualifying time. She earned a second swim, advancing to Thursday evening's B Final.

On Friday, Ravettine will compete in the women's 100 backstroke preliminary rounds. The 100 back will be the final individual event during the morning session, which begins at noon with the 200 medley relay.
