Rebekah Jenkins helped Liberty defeat Chicago State, 7-0, Wednesday, picking up a doubles and singles win.

The Liberty women's tennis team posted its third straight win away from Lynchburg, Wednesday, defeating Chicago State, 7-0.

The Lady Flames are now 4-9, while Chicago State falls to 2-12.

Liberty opened the morning match by securing the doubles point, taking two of the three matches.  Nicola Wellman and Jessie Boda eased through their No. 3 match against Mia and Mysta Townsell, winning 8-0.  Carol Lobel and Rebekah Jenkins ground out a tough win in the No. 2 match, which moved into a tiebreaker as both teams were knotted at eight.  The Liberty tandem took the breaker convincingly, 7-2, over Karyn Emeralda and Ruta Grinvalde to claim the doubles point and the 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Lady Flames moved through the matches easily, taking six straight-set victories.
Lobel didn't give up a game in her No. 6 match, blanking Mia Townsell, 6-0, 6-0.  Wellman, playing in her home state of Florida, only dropped one game in the No. 4 match, defeating Grinvalde, 6-1, 6-0.

Two more Floridians had strong showings, as Jenkins and Domenech cruised in their No. 3 and No. 5 matches, respectively, each picking up their third straight singles win.  Jenkins defeated Emeralda, 6-2, 6-1, while Domenech downed Mysta Townsell, 6-0, 6-2.

Liberty also took the lead pair of matches to pick of the 7-0 sweep over the Cougars.  Richard earned her first win at No. 1 this season.  Yang was pressured in the second set of her No. 2 match, but earned the win in a tiebreak, 6-0, 7-6 (3).

The Lady Flames were slated to finish their Florida play tonight against Bethune-Cookman, however the match has been cancelled due to a schedule conflict.  Bethune-Cookman's afternoon match ran longer than expected, and Liberty is slated to leave the state tomorrow.

Liberty's next match will now take place on Friday, when they face off with Charleston Southern.  The Big South meeting is being made up from a postponement earlier in the year.
