Lady Flames Return to Mid-Major Top 25

After winning 15 of its last 16 games and claiming the Big South regular-season title, the Liberty women's basketball team has returned to the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25. The Lady Flames check in at the No. 25 spot this week.

This is the first time since Nov. 29 that Liberty has been ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25. The Lady Flames have reached as high as the No. 18 position this season, on Nov. 15.

Delaware (27-1) is ranked No. 1 in this week's poll, earning 28 of 31 first-place votes. The Women's Mid-Major Top 25, in its second year of existence, is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conferences.

Liberty finished the regular season at 21-8 overall, posting its 14th 20-win season in the last 16 years. The Lady Flames went 16-2 in Big South play, setting a new conference record for most league wins in a single season.

The Lady Flames enter this weekend's Big South Women's Basketball Championship as the No. 1 seed. They will open tournament play Friday at noon, with a quarterfinal matchup against No. 8 seed UNC Asheville at the Millis Center in High Point, N.C.

The Big South Women's Basketball Championship semifinals will be played on Saturday, and the championship game is set for Sunday. The entire tournament will take place inside the Millis Center.
