Meredith Crisante was named Big South Player of the Week on Monday.

One day after being named to the USC Upstate all-tournament team, Liberty senior outfielder Meredith Crisante earned Big South Softball Player of the Week honors.

Crisante, a native of Huntington, W.Va., receives her first career weekly honor from the Big South. She is the first Lady Flame to be named the conference's player of the week since Ashley Bensinger, who collected the award on April 25, 2011.

The outfielder helped the Lady Flames to a 3-1 record at the USC Upstate Tournament. She went 7-for-13 (.538) with three runs scored, one home run, two stolen bases and four RBIs in the tournament. She recorded at least one hit during all four games, running her hitting streak to a team-best seven games. Crisante has reached base in all eight of Liberty's contests so far in 2012.

Crisante went 3-for-4 in a victory over La Salle on Saturday, and had a pair of two-RBI contests. She hit a home run in Liberty's second game against Savannah State on Friday, after opening the tournament with a 2-for-3 game against the Tigers.

The Lady Flames will next compete on March 6, when they open the home schedule with a doubleheader against East Tennessee State at Liberty Softball Field. The start time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
