Tristan Stayt improved to 4-2 for 2012 with his singles win, Saturday.

Despite Coastal Carolina giving up its first points of the year at home, the Chanticleers knocked off Liberty 4-3, Saturday, in both teams' Big South Conference opener.

Homestanding Coastal Carolina (6-1), who took its fourth consecutive home victory, jumped out to a 1-0 lead after sweeping doubles play from the Flames (3-3).  It is the first time Liberty has been swept in doubles this season.

While the Flames claimed two of three singles matches to go three sets, the Chanticleers held on for the 4-3 overall victory as each team claimed three singles victories.

Siim Tuus led the Flames from the No. 1 spot once again, downing Danny Heidecker, 7-6 (5), 6-3, for his fifth singles win of the year.

The Chanticleers took the No. 2 and No. 3 matches in straight sets.

Tristan Stayt was victorious in the No. 4 match for his second straight win, as he defeated Matias Di Pasquale, improving to 4-2 for 2012.  Despite dropping the opening set, 6-2, Stayt rebounded with sets of 7-6, 7-6, to take the hard-fought win.

Freshman Jorge Azuero picked up the final point for the Flames in the No. 6 singles match, defeating John Karle.  Azuero also came from behind for the victory, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Flames travel west for their next two matches as they step back out of conference, taking on Oral Roberts, Monday at 11 a.m., and Oklahoma State, Tuesday at 3 p.m.
