Continuing Coverage from CCSA Championships
The 2012 Coastal Collegiate Association (CCSA) Swimming and Diving Championships have reached their last session, with Saturday evening's finals closing out the meet in Athens, Ga. Liberty enters the evening in second place with 367.5 points, trailing Florida Gulf Coast, which has 564 points.
This morning, the Lady Flames had 11 swimmers qualify for tonight's finals, with eight making A finals and three earning spots in the B finals. Additionally, 13 out of 15 of the Lady Flames' swims were lifetime bests. Liberty athletes broke three program records and met one NCAA B cut.
Brye Ravettine earned the top seed in the 100 free in a program-record and NCAA B-standard 49.47. Cori Gary (51.73), Sarah McCorkle (51.50) and Meghan Babcock (51.66) will join Ravettine in the A final. Bethany Wakeley swam a Liberty-record 2:03.73 in the 200 fly, drawing the third seed. Erin Curry lowered Liberty's standard in the 200 back, in 2:02.94, qualifying third. Emily Duff (2:03.36) and Margaret Riel (2:03.73) will join Curry in the 200 back A final.
