This is Rebekah Jenkins' first BSC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor of her career.

Sophomore Rebekah Jenkins has been named the Big South Conference's Women's Tennis Player of the Week, marking the second consecutive week a Lady Flame has earned the honor.  The conference announced the award earlier today, which covers matches played the week of Feb. 6-13.  Fellow sophomore Alexandra Sheeran claimed the selection last week.

Jenkins earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors last season (March 21-27), but this is her first honor as player of the week.

While the Lady Flames only had one match last week, Jenkins posted a 2-0 record in the team's first win of 2012, a 4-3 victory at Longwood.

Opening with doubles play, Jenkins posted her third doubles victory of the season.  Teaming with Sheeran in the lead doubles match, the duo knocked off Allison Shulman and Malin Allgurin, 8-6.  In singles, Jenkins defeated Shulman once again, 6-2, 6-2.  Jenkins' victory helped fuel the Lady Flames' momentum in singles play and the eventual victory.

Liberty has one match again this week, coming on Friday.  The Lady Flames are slated to host Virginia Tech at 5:30 p.m. at the Sports Racket in Lynchburg.
