With the Liberty women's basketball team now in sole possession of first place in the Big South Conference for the first time this season, Nick Pierce caught up with freshman forward/center Catherine Kearney and head coach Carey Green.

Kearney played well this past weekend, helping Liberty claim key conference wins at Campbell and Big South co-leader High Point. The New Jersey native made all three of her field goals during a six-point effort at Campbell and contributed 10 points and four rebounds to the Lady Flames' Monday evening triumph at High Point.

Liberty has won a season-high nine games in a row, boosting its overall record to 15-7 and its Big South mark to 10-1. The Lady Flames will play their next two games at the Vines Center, beginning Saturday at 2 p.m. with a matinee matchup against Charleston Southern. The contest against the third-place Lady Buccaneers will be Liberty's Play 4Kay contest, in support of breast cancer awareness.

Liberty will then host Coastal Carolina Monday at 7 p.m., looking for its 38th consecutive victory in the head-to-head series with the Chanticleers.
