Dillon Segur helped the Flames secure a pair of points, teaming with Giancarlo Lemmi for a doubles win and taking his No. 4 singles match.

Three singles victories from freshmen helped the Liberty men's tennis team grab a 7-0 victory over Averett, Saturday, at the Sports Racket.

The Flames improved to 2-1 as they completed a pair of weekend home matches.  Meanwhile, Averett falls to 0-1 with the season-opening defeat.

Liberty wasted no time jumping out to a 1-0 lead, as a pair of doubles matches took less than 40 minutes for the hosts to claim.  Matt Slamecka and Stanislav Vaughan took care of the No. 3 match, defeating Andrey Yasyr and Mikhail Polyakov, 8-2.  The match was Slamecka's first career dual start, after joining the Flames last spring.

Siim Tuus and Tristan Stayt secured the doubles point by defeating Kirill Orlov and Iliya Egorov, 8-1, in the lead match.

Giancarlo Lemmi and Dillon Segur used a late break to take the No. 2 doubles match and wrap up the doubles sweep, defeating David Lembke and Jyri Hayrinen, 8-6.

The Flames continued as the aggressor in singles play, taking each of the six matches in straight sets.

Tuus eased through his No. 1 match, being the first to claim a singles match, by defeating Orlov, 6-0, 6-1.  Tuus has been strong in the leadoff singles match this season, with the win improving his record to 3-0.

Lemmi stretched the Flames' advantage to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 5 match as he took down Polyakov for his second win of the year.

Liberty's freshmen then led the closing matches for the Flames.  Segur, playing in the No. 4 slot, outhit Yasyr, 6-2, 6-3, while Harrell closed out his No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-1 against Hayrinen.

Stayt knocked off Lembke, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 match, while freshman Jorge Azuero completed the sweep for the homestanding team by defeating Egorov, 6-2, 6-0.  The win by Azuero was his first of the spring season.

Liberty will face its first true road match of 2012 next Wednesday, when they travel to Farmville, Va., to take on future Big South foe Longwood.  Match time is slated for 1:30 p.m.
